Captain KK Neopane death great loss for Darjeeling: Bimal Gurung

Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung has expressed deep condolence on the sudden demise of social activist, Captain (retired) Khagendra Kumar Neopane, who had actively participated in the agitation for a Gorkhaland state.

Neopane (64) suffered a fatal heart attack on Sunday at his residence in Milan More, near Siliguri. He was the father of upcoming fashion designer Alka Adhikari, who has gained fame for her Nepali-European fusion attire.

In his message, Gurung said the passing away of Captain Neopane is a great loss for the Darjeeling hills and the entire Indian Nepali community. Asha Gurung, the GJM chief’s wife, today visited Neopane’s home to pay her last respects.

She said, “Captain Neopane was an eminent social activist and his support and dedication towards the Gorkhaland movement will always be remembered.”

The ex-Army association, along with several clubs, organisations and institutions, also expressed their condolences.(EOIC)
