Tribhuvan University conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters degrees on
Litterateur and one of Darjeeling's most iconic sons Shri. Indra
Bahadur Rai.
A team comprising of VC Prof. Tirtharaj Khaniya, Prof. Sudha Tripathi, Prof. Chintamani Pokhrel, Associat. Prof Tarakant Pandey, and Nepal Press Federation Jhapa VP Shri. Tamanai Sapkota and Shri Shankar Bhattarai visited Darjeeling and conferred the degree on Dr. IB Rai at his home.
It is remarkable that that till date only 12 individuals have been honoured with D Lit degree from Tribhuwan University, and this year Dr. IB Rai and Shri Madhav Prasad Ghimire were selected for the honour after a gap of 15 years.
Thank You TRIBHUWAN UNIVERSITY for remembering one of the Nepali Literary greats from Darjeeling... In honouring Dr. Rai, you have honoured the Gorkhali community in Darjeeling and India and acknowledged the contributions made by our people in making Nepali literature richer.
We are confident, this gesture will go a long way in strengthening the bond between our people.(TDC)
