Darjeeling District (hill) Congress Committee holds a meet at Kurseong

A meeting of Darjeeling District (hill) Congress Committee was held at Kurseong Congress Party Office under the presidentship of Congress Committee president KB Chettri today. The meeting discussed about the deteriorating political situation in the hills and the possibility of situation getting worse. They also discussed about the chief minister’s comment over Gorkhaland demand being a separatist movement.  Alleging the state government of violating the constitutionals rights of the people of the hills they strongly condemned the statement. It was decided that during the forthcoming assembly elections the already established leaders and heavyweight politicians should not be made to win instead those representatives chosen by the public will be made victorious. The meeting passed a resolution that local candidates will be handpicked for the same. Further it was decided that a team of the party will be heading towards Delhi to once again meet the leaders of the center, veteran politicians and office bearers of the congress party to highlight the necessity of formation of the separate state. 11 member team from the core committee, under the chairmanship of KB Chettri has been selected for the same. It may be mentioned that few days ago Shankar Mallakar Darjeeling district (Terai) Congress Committee president had met with the GTA Executive Chief Bimal Gurung and had advised him not to dissolve the GTA. Mallakar’s advice was highly objected during the meeting today labeling his act as anti social.
