Gurung orders to not to dismantle Shahid Park, to be beautified instead

A meeting of the working members of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Kalimpong sub division was held under the presidentship of its President, Bimal Gurung on Friday at its office.The General Secretary of the Kalimpong GJM, Kumar Chamling informing about the meet thanked the GJM chief for laying the prime foundation for tourism development in Kalimpong. He further informed that the construction work for the motor stand at Topkhana by dismantling the Shahid Park has been halted. Instead the park will be preserved and will be beautified as per the orders of the chief, he added.Gurung has also ordered to keep the momentum of the construction work of the Multiplex near Novelty.It was also decided in the meeting that the Janmukti Park will be transformed into an open stage and the park too, will be beautified. The responsibility for this particular work has been given to the KED by Gurung.Likewise, the GJM head has also decided to call on the expert doctors and nurses from the Southern area for different hospitals in Kalimpong. To this, Chamling added that various BPL families of Kalimpong will medically benefit al lot from this.Chamling who has been involved in the political filed since long said that he has never seen a visionary politician like Bimal Gurung in the hills. “To do and give something for the future generations is what Gurung aims for”, he appraised. Further, saying that Gurung is one politician who has initiated various developmental works in Kalimpong, Chamling said that people do not value such good leaders. “In our hills we have the habit of finding loopholes in the good works instead of appreciating it”, added the General Secretary.“It is fine when the opposition delivers comments, but the language they use is not appropriate”, said Chamling.The Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Chairman, Pradeep Pradhan, Sabhasads Binay Tamang, Norbu G Lama, Gopal Ruchal, Samuel Gurung and Dr. RB Bhujel were also present during the meet.
